A four-member Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team, led by an inspector-rank officer from Delhi, arrived in Rajauli, Nawada district, on Saturday to investigate the UGC NET examination question leak case. Acting on the location data of suspects' cell phone numbers, the team sought to apprehend individuals linked to the scandal. Upon receiving information about an assault on the CBI officials, Rajesh Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Rajauli police station, swiftly intervened. He successfully pacified the villagers, bringing the tense situation under control.
The federal agency initiated the UGC-NET probe following discrepancies found in the examination, based on a recommendation from the Ministry of Education (MOE). "The investigation is ongoing. Individuals involved in the case will be arrested," stated a police officer, though specifics regarding the suspects remain undisclosed.
SHO Rajesh Kumar elaborated, "A CBI team arrived in Nawada on Saturday evening to investigate the UGC NET paper leak case. Without notifying the local police, they proceeded to the village, where they were mistakenly perceived as impostors by the villagers and subsequently attacked. Upon learning of the incident, the police intervened and calmed the situation. An FIR has been filed, and four individuals have been arrested in connection with the attack."
This incident underscores the complexities and challenges faced by investigative agencies in high-stakes cases, highlighting the importance of coordination and communication between different law enforcement bodies.
